About

I’m Seth Johnston, an Australian programmer specialising in video game development.

In my childhood years, I loved playing games like Crash Bandicoot and Half-Life with my siblings, and messing around in Garry’s Mod and Hammer World Editor.

I spent the majority of my teen years face-down at my desk studying, particularly enjoying subjects related to mathematics and science – it was only near the end of high school that I realised I could combine my passion for games and problem-solving into a career.

After graduating, I immediately started the Advanced Diploma programming course at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment, Melbourne (AIE). I quickly got myself up-to-speed with my peers, and found myself falling naturally into lead programming roles in team projects by the end of the year. I spent the second and final year of the Advanced Diploma exploring unfamiliar areas of programming, and honing my leadership abilities during the 5-month major group project.

Beyond graduation from AIE, I plan on completing a few more solo projects to fully demonstrate my capabilities, and have them displayed here. I’m excited to try new things, make mistakes, and learn from them along the way!

Outside of games and programming, I’ve been a self-taught pianist for several years now, and I love playing regularly in my down-time purely for fun. Puzzles are also a big hobby of mine, and I’m grateful to let that passion be part of my day-to-day through working in the escape room industry for 3 years and counting.
